Osteopathic Manipulation

The theory, started by an MD over 100 years ago, proposes the concept that realignment of the musculo-skeletal system can enhance the body's ability to heal itself. Since the nerve roots that innervate the organ systems travel in the same spaces as the musculo-skeletal nerves, the theory states that if one system is improved, others will improve as follow.

Osteopathic manipulation helps align the musculo-skeletal system which in turn allows the other body systems to function better. It helps reduce the necessity for pain medication. Additionally, many studies have proven the theory that the "laying on of hands", or simply touching the patient, helps in the healing process by creating a connection from the physician to the patient.
